muppet: While we were having a pillow fight on the couch with her older sister. She couldn't hav struck me more perfectly. Dead center in my eye at full force with a sharp little nail.
I went to the ER 3 or 4 hours later even though the pain was unbearable right away, because my wife was snowed in at work on a 12 hour shift.
My vision in the right eye is abou 20/100 right now. Hurts like a bitch.
When I went to the ER, they got me in within 2 minutes of registering and gave me medication for the pain within 5 minutes. Magic drops that numb the entire eye instantly (sadly, it can't be used habitually so I couldn't take any home.)
They made an appointment for me with an apthamologist who agreed to see me on Sunday. She fitted me with a contact lens to cover the cut and keep it from being rubbed by my eyelids (wish they had that at the ER) and dilated my pupil (going on 8 hours now) so that my eye won't adjust and stretch/squeeze the cut and intensify the pain.
So, horrible luck with the injury, but the promptest and most competent medical care I've received within memory. Not sure how to feel about that.
Percocet makes me REALLY ill. :P
